Claiming Medical Marijuana as a Medical Expense

Claiming Medical Marijuana as a Medical Expense

Did you know that your medical marijuana is eligible as a medical expense on your Income Tax Return? The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) allows medical marijuana patients to claim their orders from Licensed Producers.

To claim these purchases on your taxes, you will need to provide the CRA with all of the receipts from the tax period. You will also need to fill out the appropriate line in the tax forms to ensure that all purchases of medical marijuana are accounted for.

Please note that only purchases from Licensed Producers are eligible, so if you are purchasing illegally from a dispensary it will not be eligible to be submitted with your tax return.

If you or someone you know needs assistance obtaining safe and legal medical marijuana, please contact us.
